The chapters of this book are derived from lectures given to our second year Medical Students in the Medical Microbiology course.  At present, there are approximately 70 chapters in the book, only a few of which are password-protected. Extra chapters will be added throughout 2002. We shall also be revising most chapters during the year, adding new links to additional web resources and adding questions that will test your knowledge of Microbiology and Immunology.

Please let us know whether you find this site useful and also please inform us of any corrections that are necessary. There is an e-mail link for this purpose at the left.

Throughout the various chapters you will find words that are underlined. These are terms that may be unfamiliar to some readers. Click on the word and you will obtain a definition from the On-Line Medical Dictionary. The On-line Medical Dictionary is Academic Medical Publishing & CancerWEB.

The various sections of this site refer to two textbooks recommended  to our Medical Students. These are:

  • Murray et al. Medical Microbiology, 4th edition, Mosby Publishers, St Louis, 2002

  • Roitt, et al. Immunology, 6th edition, Mosby, 2001.

The chapters have been revised and edited by
