Now that you know something about the structure of the University of South Carolina PREP, you may want to consider applying. Please also take a while to see what sort of research we do. You can find out about individual faculty research areas or the participating departments by using the menus above. On your application you will be asked to list four faculty with whom you might want to work if you are selected for the program. This is so that we can get an idea of your interests and also so that we may select relevant faculty for your interviews.

When your application has been received your should receive an immediate electronic reply. If you do not please contact us. The PREP office will also contact you by e-mail and you will be sent a brochure describing the program.

Once you have submitted the application, please go to the personal statement form and send us the reasons why you would like to enter the PREP program. We suggest that you write this statement using a word processor and copy/paste it into the appropriate box on the form. You may also send the statement to the address below. When you submit the personal statement you should also receive an electronic acknowledgment.

For your application to be complete you will also need to send us:

  • Three letters of recommendation from former mentors/professors describing your academic achievements and suitability for the PREP program

  • A copy of your undergraduate transcripts

  • A copy of your GRE score (if you have taken this exam)
