MINORITY PROGRAMS
POST-BACCALAUREATE
RESEARCH EDUCATION PROGRAM
To remedy the under-representation of
minorities in scientist training programs, the National
Institutes of Health have created the POST-BACCALAUREATE
RESEARCH EDUCATION PROGRAM (PREP). The University of South
Carolina School of Medicine and the University of South
Carolina Department of Biology together with faculty in
other science departments started a PREP program in January
2005.
SLOAN
FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's Minority Ph.D. Program
offers substantial scholarship support to underrepresented
minority students who are beginning their doctoral work in
engineering, natural science and mathematics.
